Maseru ___ Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) has seen a rise in blood donations due to ongoing festivities aimed at celebrating 200 years of Basotho's existence.

This was disclosed by LBTS Principal Laboratory Technologist Mr. Khotso Kalake in an interview with the Agency, saying the Service is continuing to be invited in these festivities for blood donations.

He indicated that they collected 40 pints of blood in Leribe during the celebration of independence, 18 in Qacha's Nek and 48 in Morija.

However, he urged the public to continue donating blood especially when Christmas holidays approaches as demand is always high during that era, saying LBTS has resolved to work with disciplinary forces such as Lesotho Mounted Police Service and Lesotho Defence Force to ensure LBTS meets demand.

He also reminded that demand is always high with the addition of Maseru District hospital on hospitals which the Service supplies with blood, calling on the public to donate blood and save lives.

LBTS is responsible for supplying all hospitals with safe blood through donor recruitment and selection, blood collection, screening and distribution.
