Leader of Basotho Covenant Movement (BCM) in the National Assembly, Dr. Tsépo Liphoto has called for former Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Commander, Lieutenant General (L/G) Tlali Kamoli who has been awaiting trial in jail to be given justice. Standing on a point of Order in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Dr. Liphoto said L/G Kamoli has been in jail for more than the 90 days required by the law, saying that on its own is not good.

Dr. Liphoto said what was even a concern to him was that L/G Kamoli had handed himself over to the police when he was requested to do so by the police. He said some of those who are accused with him were granted bail and are members of the parliament, while he is awaiting trial in jail.

‘This is not fair for him since he could eventually be found not guilty by the  Dr. Liphoto said those who were granted bail by the courts of law and are awaiting trial outside, some of them even fled the country but were still granted bail. He did not mention their names. He felt that the justice system has not been fair to him and urged the Government to release him on bail since his court case has been dragging on for long.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane advised Dr. Liphoto to rather bring an urgent question on this issue in the National Assembly so that he could get an in- depth response instead of standing on a point of order. L/G Kamoli and company are facing various charges and their alternatives which include treason, murder, and attempted murder, risk of injury or death and aggravated assault which they have pleaded not guilty to.
