Despite the crucial work played by health community workers in bringing healthcare closer to the community, the community health workers confirmed their discontinue in providing healthcare services starting from Wednesday. In an interview with the Agency Ministry of Health Public Relations Officer Mrs. Mateboho Mosebekoa indicated her office was informed by letter from Lesotho Worker

Association (LEWA) that the health workers are intending to immobilise healthcare services as they demand salary increment. This was revealed by LEWA Secretary General Mr. Hlalefang Seoaholimo at press conference held at Maseru during Chief;s press briefing where he emphasised that Chiefs have stopped service provison since Monday on claims that they are not getting salary increment.

Speaking in an interview with one of the community health workers who opted for anonymity on fear of victimisation said that though the strike is to commence on Wednesday, she checked her patients in the morning and made sure they had their medication but she is not going to do it on Thursday.LEWA was formed in 2011 by independent founding members with the objective of helping Basotho workers in Lesotho and internationally with all their existing labor grievances.
