Chief Seeiso pleads with men to screen for cancer

The Principal Chief of Matsieng Chief Bereng Seeiso has pleaded with men to screen for prostate cancer, as most of them are dying in significant numbers because of the unknown fear of consulting doctors.

Chief Seeiso stated this when delivering a speech on behalf of his Majesty King Letsie III, at the official burial of Principal Chief of Phamong, Chieftainess Nthati Bereng who has lost her life to cancer, after having been diagnosed with a lump on her breast in August, 2022.

He articulated that the deceased was a hard-working person, wise when addressing issues, and would always make sure that she speaks with intelligence, and not for the sake of doing so.

On the other hand, on behalf of Principal Chiefs, Principal Chief of Thaba-Bosiu Chief Khoabane Theko echoed the same sentiments by noting that he had known the deceased to be a smart person in the Senate, and her presence was also felt in the College of Chiefs in her position as a treasurer.

Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Matete Majara stated that the country needs to intensify its fight against cancer, noting this could only be achieved if the government works hand in hand with civilians.

Meanwhile, Miles Sampa, a member of parliament from Zambia and a member of Pan African Parliament, noted that the deceased has indeed left a void, which would not be easily filled.

The service was graced by the presence justice 'Mabats'oeneng Hlaele, the Speaker of Parliament  Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane, President of the Senate Mrs.   'Mamonaheng Mokitimi, Senior government officials and Ministers.
