Health Professionals in the district are currently reviewing their service delivery with focus on provision of tuberculosis services in a weeklong meeting held in Mafeteng on Monday. The meeting that has attracted attendees form seventeen district health facilities from both government of Lesotho and Christian Health Association of Lesotho namely Lee-Coop,Mount Olivet, St. Andrews, Motsekuoa, Ribaneng, St.Thomas and Malealea is expected to end on Friday.

In an interview with the agency, the Public Health Nurse from Mafeteng Regional Hospital Mrs. Mampho Mafereka said the activity is aimed following up all the people who have screened for tuberculosis within different health facilities to see if they have received their results and if those with positive results are already on treatment. Mrs. Mafereka mentioned that if there are people with positive results who have not started treatment and to fill such gap if there is any.She highlighted that if there are some who have not yet received their results and those who just tested positive but not present for now they will follow them to their respective residences with the aim of notifying them that they should start their treatment and adhere.

Mrs. Mafereka indicated that upon completion of the meeting attendees are expected to go back to their respective workplaces and follow up all the tuberculosis patients to encourage them to adhere to their treatment as well as notifying them about danger of defaulting. This is the first meeting of its nature to be held in the district this year as such meetings are held within various health facilities on quarterly basis.
