Following the complete burn down of the seven roomed house of the Khole family in Ha ‘Mants’ebo, the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has restored the dignity of the family by handing over a two roomed house to the family on Monday.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency, the recipient of the house Mrs. ‘Maseabi Khoele said the house burnt out in February with a fire which she reported started in one of the bedrooms.She mentioned that this house will be of great benefit to her and her grandchildren as well as her 71 year old husband which she said is also suffering a stroke.Mrs. Khoele however applauded the DMA and all the other assistance it is offering to the vulnerable households across the country.
On the other hand, the Community councillor Mr. Majara Moshoeshoe said for the longest time they have always known of the existence of the DMA office but not recognising any of its footsteps.He mentioned that it is through such initiatives that the nation is having faith and trust in the government.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Disaster Management Authority (DMA) Mr. Reatile Ellias said this initiative comes in as part of the government’s efforts in ensuring that every Mosotho lives with dignity of proper shelter, food and clothing.He indicated that the government is aiming at building over 160 houses for the vulnerable households across the country.Mr. Ellias showed that in the past week, about 14 houses were handed over in the Leribe district while13 were handed over in the Berea district.In the district of Maseru, about 26 houses are expected to be handed over to the vulnerable households.
