FINANCIAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN TO COMMUNITIES COMMUNITIES

The Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) in partnership with the Competitiveness and Financial Inclusion (CAFI) Project, is set to roll out a nationwide financial literacy campaign aimed at educating the public on financial matters and promoting access to and use of financial products and services.

The campaign will run alongside the Lesotho Registry of Interest in Moveable Assets (LERIMA) initiative, with both campaigns seeking to raise public awareness, improve financial knowledge and encourage greater participation in the country's financial sector.

Speaking at the launch, CBL Governor Dr. Maluke Letete expressed hope that increased public awareness and understanding particularly of the LERIMA initiative would transform stakeholders from merely informed participants into active, long-term partners in promoting financial inclusion.

He said the two campaigns reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen public awareness and encourage wider access to and use of financial products and services in Lesotho.

Meanwhile, CAFI Project Managing Director Mr. Chaba Mokuku reaffirmed the project's commitment to supporting the Central Bank in advancing financial inclusion and ensuring that more people understand and benefit from available financial services.

The Chief of Corporate Communication at CBL, Mr. Ephraim Moremoholo, said the initiatives seek to ensure that communities across the country are informed about available financial products and services and understand how to use them effectively.

He indicated that the campaigns would also promote stakeholder engagement through consultation and effective communication, enabling individuals and institutions to support the adoption and use of financial services.

We want to ensure that stakeholders are informed, consulted and mobilised to support adoption and usage,” he said.

The campaigns are further expected to encourage members of the public to become advocates of financial literacy by sharing information within their communities, thereby extending the reach of the initiatives.
