Maseru — The Lesotho Association of Public Administration and Management (LAPAM) has intensified efforts to raise awareness among stakeholders in preparation for the upcoming African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) annual conference to be held in the country.

Speaking at the meeting held in Maseru on Monday, LAPAM President Dr. Thabang Mothepu said the meeting, which brought together representatives from the public and private sectors as well as civil society organizations, was aimed at sensitizing stakeholders about the conference and encouraging their active participation.

He said the meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce LAPAM and its mandate, encouraging participants to join the association and announced that a LAPAM sub-committee would be established in Maseru District.

He indicated that LAPAM plays a vital role in promoting ethical conduct and professionalism among public and private officers to enhance service delivery.

He added that the association provides a platform for knowledge sharing, skills development, and capacity building across Lesotho's workforce, urging institutions to partner with LAPAM, adopt best practices, and ensure their operations meet recognized ethical and professional standards.

In an interview with the Agency, one of the participants Mr. Sechaba Maoeng, welcomed the association's objectives, saying LAPAM's focus on promoting ethical conduct and professionalism could help address the persistent challenges of poor service delivery in the public sector.

He further emphasized that the effective allocation of resources is essential to improving service delivery thus commended LAPAM for its mandate.

Meanwhile, similar stakeholder engagement meetings have already been held in the districts of Berea and Leribe, with Qacha's Nek and Quthing scheduled to host similar sessions.

The AAPAM annual conference will be held in Lesotho from December 07 to 11 with the objective to address complex socio-economic challenges faced by public institutions and advocate for agile, responsive and innovative governance.

LAPAM was resuscitated in 2025 and aims to amongst others, support the government's vision for an efficient and accountable public sector as well as to promote accountability and efficiency within institutions.
