Leribe __ With the purpose of giving back to the community, Lesotho News Agency (LENA) gave out 30 pairs of school shoes, more than 50 packets of sanitary pads, school socks and face towels to Mount Royal Primary School at Hlotse in Leribe on Friday.

Mount Royal Primary School also gave LENA Certificate of Appreciation in return.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the District Administrator of Leribe Mr. Thulo Kemane said the event has been a great success in assisting the pupils.

He said the gifts are meant for pupils, saying they should take good care of them.

Mr. Kemane said the office of the District Administrator is proud of the activity in supporting the vulnerable children of the district.

Speaking at the same event, the Principal of Mount Royal Primary School, Sister Ignatius Rakaibe expressed her gratitude to the agency, saying this is a great impact on pupils’ lives.

She said the schools’ shoes give children the courage and strength to attend school everyday.

Referring to the pupils, she said teaching deaf pupils is a big challenge as they still pose a challenge like all other normal pupils.

However, she said learning sign language shaped her into understanding them and overcoming such challenges.

She said the school is getting assistance in all forms, citing provision of computers by Vodacom Lesotho and Water systems by the Australian Alumni Association.

Speaking at the same event, the Director of Lesotho News Agency (LENA) Mrs. Moroa Mopeli expressed her gratitude, highlighting that the gifts are from LENA staff.

She urged that the pupils should also practice sharing with other children whatever they have.

Mopeli indicated that her staff should continue the good work and start planning for the such events to follow.

About 30 vulnerable pupils were given school shoes and pairs of socks and 25 girls received sanitary pads.

This is the second event of its kind by the agency in the district.
