Berea, April 01—At least two villages under Khano Electoral Division (ED) will have access to clean water as the construction of a water storage tank has reached completion at Ha-Rapholo in Ts’oana-Makhulo constituency.

This was confirmed by Khano ED Community Councilor Mr. Bane Sobane during an interview with the Agency on Tuesday.

According to Khano ED Community Councilor Mr. Sobane, the completed water supply tank is set to benefit over 200 households of both Ha-Rapholo and Ha-Rakhophola.

Mr. Sobane said the completed water supply tank at Ha-Rapholo is along the pipeline route from Metolong to Lekokoaneng where the government is currently conducting the water installation project for over 20 villages.

He pointed out that the Ha-Rapholo supply tank was initially not meant to be there as the water was only supposed to be channeled straight from Metolong to Lekokoaneng pass through their villages, but they did make a special request to the parliament to be included.

Additionally, he said they have about seven villages which are in dire need of water, but after the long negotiations with the authorities, Ha-Rapholo and Ha-Rakhophola were included in the project for being directly impacted by the construction activities.

He stressed that among the villages which in dire need of water but not along the pipeline route include, Ha-Likotsi, Ha-Sebekele, Ha-Malimabe, Ha-Nots’i and Liphakoeng.

Meanwhile, Lesotho being among the global countries under the United Nations (UN) are only left with five years before they will have to report back over the progress made in achieving the agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) whereby the SDG six clearly highlights, “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”
