BEDCO in collaboration with Standard Lesotho Bank and LRA launched PHASE III of BACHA ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECT
When conveying her speech Mrs ‘Makatleho matabowe the CEO of BEDCO, indicated that governments globally recognize a need to promote business for economic growth of their respective countries, in the light of promoting entrepreneurship.
Statistics indicate that the youth are the most ravaged segment within communities, who are affected by unemployment resulting in poverty, therefore the three partners (LRA, SLB & BEDCO) have pledged to continually contribute towards achievement of improving entrepreneurship in Lesotho, particularly for the youth.
She further pointed that young BASOTHO graduates wait for over four years before they can be absorbed into the civil service as a result, they end up being at the mercy of the civil service sector such that they cannot put their minds on being innovative to be the ones to create employment.
Adding that there is a serious need for all key stakeholders in business development to help change the mindset of the youth to encourage their participation in the private sector so as to pose Lesotho as a sustainable economy to be recognized regionally and eventually globally.
