Maseru__ Ha-Motloheloa Community Councillor Mr. Teboho Ntlaloe says that they are going to work on rehabilitation of access roads within their 13 villages.

This he said in an interview with the Agency on Wednesday where he said the activity is going to be carried out under the cash for work project.

He said that their access roads are in a very bad state saying when it rains, and they are forced to carry corpse on carts due to inaccessible roads.

He indicated that this project came at the right time when their roads need to be rehabilitated.

He added that it was not easy to encourage community members to embark on maintaining the roads as there was no money to offer them but said that through this initiative, he believes that they will be motivated to engage in rehabilitation of their access roads as they will not be working for free.

On the other hand, Mr. Ntlaloe indicated that they are running out of space at the cemetery saying this might result in community members buying a site as the Area Chief as well as the Council no longer have free sites to allocate for cemetery.

Moreover, Area Chief Mabusetsa Maphika stated that though there is electricity in the area, there are only three villages of Ha-Rathoko, Ha-Nkhata and Ha-Raphuthi which do not have electricity.

He mentioned that these are some of the old villages but said even new villages have electricity.

On one hand, he stated that they have a challenge of stock theft though he indicated that it is not high.

Meanwhile cash for work is an initiative by the government of Lesotho as intervention on food insecurity in the country.

The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) through District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) is currently conducting targeting exercise for beneficiaries in the 22 constituencies of Maseru district.

Ha-Motloheloa is one of the villages under Thaba-Bosiu constituency with the population of over 2000.
