A number of Basotho nationals who are coming into the country through Ficksburg and Maseru border posts for Christmas and new year holidays has increased since Thursday, The department of Immigration has said.
It states that a lot of people have crossed Maseru bridge since Thursday morning and more people are expected to cross the border in large numbers during the course of the the day until Saturday.
It further states that both Ficksburg and Maseru border posts are open for 24 hours, appealing to all Basotho nationals who do not have passports to take an opportunity of the South African amnesty and come back home to apply for identity documents as well as the Lesotho Special Permit before December 31.
Meanwhile, mobile services provided at border posts to assist in easing the application process for special permits are continuing.
