PALT DISSOCIATES ITSELF FROM TEACHERS’ MASS INDUSTRIAL ACTION.
PALT dissociates itself from teachers’ mass industrial action.
27 July 2018 | 15:34

The Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Association of Lesotho Teachers (PALT) Mr Paul Sematlane, said all PALT members shall not participate in the upcoming strike by all Lesotho teachers on the 2nd August to the 2nd September 2018.

The strike is due to the Ministry of Education not attending to the cries and complains of teachers about their salary increase and the career structure.

Mr Sematlane further indicated that PALT signed the directorate of dispute prevention and resolution settlement agreement with the Ministry of Education and Training and both parties agreed to settle the dispute in a way that they  engaged  one another in negotiations meetings to discuss the teacher’s salary and career structure.

Mr Sematlane emphasized that PALT has been recognized and approved as the largest Trade Union In Lesotho, with 7722 members.

He further said what PALT will gain out of this, shall also be gained by all its teacher members because they are teachers after all.

He said PALT will therefore not be part of the strike because it is not safe and legal.
