PETROLEUM FUND
01 June 2020 | 16:05
Maseru—The Petroleum Fund Secretariat has received calls relating to the availability of petroleum products in the country during this period. This follows from a statement from one of the local oil companies which indicated to its customers that they will experience shortage of products following planned shut-downs by the refineries in the Republic of South Africa (RSA).
The Fund would like inform the public that it is indeed true that there will be supply disruptions following “more than expected" increase in demand of petroleum products in the RSA which will lead to some rationalisation of supply of products in the neighbouring States such as Lesotho. However, this is not a major problem as the supply is expected to come to normal during the middle of June 2020 and all refineries come to full production.
The public is therefore advised not to panic as this spell will only last for about two weeks.
