Public transport owners increase public transport tariffs
27 April 2018 | 10:09

Public transport owners from different associations in the country met in Maseru yesterday, to announce their concerns about the National Traffic Board, and public transport tariffs in the country.

During the meeting the associations Public Relations Officer Mr Lebohang Moea, said as transport owners five years to six years have passed, without seeing a notable progress in the public transport industry.

He said this was due to the public transport tariffs which have not been increased, even though the standard of living has been increasing over the years.

Mr Moea pointed out that starting from the 1st June this year, they are planning to implement new public transport tariffs, in which passengers travelling into the town from villages around Maseru, will pay M15 and another M15 when they return.

He said they agreed on this amount considering the fact that, tax rates, the Interpol rates and the maintenance costs for their vehicles have increased.
