Maseru, Jun. 07--As part of strengthening the Local International Humanitarian Committee and Humanitarian diplomacy, the Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS) is implementing a one-year International Humanitarian Law.
Working in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Ministry of Defence, LRCS will hold a four-day local IHL Committee training that will begin on June 09.
Ms. Pusetso Sehlabaka, Communications Focal Person, said expected participants include Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Justice and Law, Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Lesotho Defence Force, Lesotho Mounted Police Service, Lesotho Correctional Service, Red Cross Society and the National University of Lesotho.
She said the training aims to enhance preparedness during times of conflict and promote the protection of civilian rights.
