Berea, July 22—Teyateyaneng youth under their Climate Justice Programme will embark on the town cleaning campaign on Friday.

This was confirmed by Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Youths Mentor Mr. Kamohelo Thokoane during an interview with the Agency on Monday.

Mr. Thokoane said the youth-initiated cleaning campaign will resume at Ha-Ramonaheng to the Thakaneng Youth Resource Centre.

He pointed out that littering still remains a challenge faced by many towns and Teyateyaneng is not exceptional, therefore they saw a need to unite youths with the aim to pursue mitigation adaptation strategies for climate change.

Mr.  Thokoane said the primary purpose of leading such campaigns is to change the mind-set of people and to instil a sense of responsibility when it comes to environmental protection issues.

He said although the cleaning campaign is the youth- led initiative, everyone is invited, adding that they have also planned to develop some placards highlighting educational messages raising awareness about climate change.

“Bringing together voices of youths from different backgrounds, seeks to build the capacity needed to drive progressive and social and environmental justice”, he explained.

ADRA Youth Mentor further said plans are already in place to plant trees at some different places surrounding Teyateyaneng town.

Teyateyaneg youths run different programmes which include lifer skills, capacity building for youths on recycling waste materials and other issues.
