VENDORS WORRY OF DECLINE IN BUSINESS
Vendors worry of decline in business

Even though May, 01, is celebrated globally as an opportunity to campaign for workers' rights, show solidarity with other working people and to celebrate the achievements of workers all over the world, street vendors working along the King's way road find it unimportant to celebrate this day.

One of the vendors Mr. Moitheri Masoetsa said that due to lack of circulation of finances across the country, he has nothing to celebrate as he has nothing to point out as an achievement for him this year.

He indicated that it is also a day to campaign for human rights which he said he was not interested in celebrating as for the longest time they have pleaded with the government to extract shelters for them on the streets but up to date, they have not received such shelters and those that they have extracted for themselves get destroyed.

Masoetsa however indicated that he has been working during the holiday as he hoped that the little that he will make will be able to put bread on his table.

Meanwhile, he stated that the now increasing rate of almost every commodity is also a worrying factor to them as vendors as they are fearing that people will stop buying from them.

Recently, Lesotho experienced an increase in the price of maize meal and flour as announced by the Lesotho Flour Mills.

An increase in the price of petrol was also announced this week by the Petroleum Funds.
