Different workers unions held a press briefing in Maseru yesterday, to make a clarion call on the issues pertaining the petition they handed over to the Prime Minister, Lesotho Parliament and the minister of labour and employment through the Right Honorable Prime Minister on the 25th June 2018.
They indicated that the Prime Minister had promised to respond to their cries in a period of 14 days but up until now they haven’t heard from him.
They also said the government has made it a habit to always make promises they do not intend to keep.
However they emphasized that with the peanuts they are earning, they are faced with the day to day challenges of the taxi fares that have risen, the electricity and water tariffs as well as groceries in stores.
Therefore they clarified that they are expecting the government to answer to their cries within seven working days starting from yesterday, also by the end of this month the gazette should be out that shows t the factory workers salary increased to M2000 and 15% increase on other sectors.
Moreover they said since the government has turned deaf to their cries, they will engage in an industrial mass action country wide on the 9th August 2018.
