The Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA), the Directorate of Crime and Economic Offences (DCEO), and the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), celebrated the International Day of Anti-Corruption in Maseru yesterday.

At the event Minister of Finance Dr Moeketsi Majoro, said corruption is a major challenge facing nations around the world, regardless of their work positions and educational status.

He said because of the absence of effective courts of law, the government often signs agreements without following the right procedures, and this results in the vandalization of state property.

Dr Majoro also said they are already faced with a challenge of investigating criminal activities, and prosecuting criminals in the courts of law.

He further said they are still faced with a challenge of introducing measures, of the declaration of assets and interests for politically exposed people in Lesotho.

The Managing Director of DCEO Mr Borotho Matsoso, said corruption is a challenge against the economic growth of many countries, and he encouraged everyone to fight against it.
