Kou donates a cow to LCS as a Christmas gift for prisoners.

The Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) received a cow as a Christmas gift for prisoners, from the local business man Mr George Kou in Maseru yesterday.

Speaking at the event, the Lesotho Correctional Service commander Commissioner Thabang Mothepu, explained that after winning many football competitions and being awarded many trophies in the country, members of the Lesotho Correctional Service football team called Masheshena negotiated Christmas gifts for their prisoners from Mr Kou, as part of giving back to the community.

He said in response to that Mr Kou donated a cow to their prisoners.

On behalf of LCS, the Minister of Justice and Correctional Service Honorable Mokhele Moletsane, thanked Mr Kou for the gift he offered to the prisoners and increasing their foodstuff during Christmas days.

He appealed to families and friends of prisoners to come and see their relatives in prisons, as part of counseling to the prisoners during the Christmas days.

He said doors are open for them to come and see their relatives in prisons, and encouraged them to present gifts to prisoners particularly foodstuff.

He however noted that security will be tightened in all LCS premises during these Christmas days, and pleaded with the families and friends of prisoners to obey the rules and regulations that will be set during their visit in their premises.

In his remarks Honorable Moletsane also cautioned their visitors that weapons of all types will not be allowed in LCS premises, and that all the visitors, foodstuff and vehicles will be searched when entering the premises for the security of prisoners.

He further warned all the visitors, particularly women and girls that they should dress in a presentable manner when visiting the prisoners.

He also called on all Basotho and local business people to donate gifts to prisoners, which include food and sports equipment as part of correctional service to them.
