The Lesotho Council of Non-government Organizations (LCN) in collaboration with Transformation Resource Centre (TRC), organized the Pre-Moshoeshoe Walk in Thaba-Bosiu on Wednesday this week.

The aim of the event was to encourage the nation to participate in the annual Moshoeshoe Walk from Menkhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu from the 7th to the 9th March 2019.

On that occasion, the principal secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture Mr Monaphathi Maraka, highlighted that walking is an expression of movement and that putting one foot in front of the other is an expression of change.

He said indeed walking is an expression of transformation.

He further said it is through “walking” that King Moshoeshoe I migrated from Menkhaneng to Thaba-Bosiu, and that through the same migration the nation called Lesotho today was founded.

He however urged the nation to participate in this annual walk, and walk for independence, for reforms and walk against HIV/AIDS, cancer and malnutrition, as well as walk against cultural ignorance.

The event was graced by the presence of Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Deputy Prime Minister Monyane Moleleki and the US Ambassador to Lesotho Honorable Rebecca Gonzalez.
