Ministry of Health plans to implement the compulsory HIV/AIDS testing strategy.

The Minister of Health Honorable Nkaku Kabi says Lesotho is doing well in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS, especially in suppressing the virus until it can no longer be detected in the body of a patient.

He expressed this in Maseru yesterday, where he further stated a concern that it looks like they are not doing very well in preventing the virus, and as such they are planning to come up with a strategy in which HIV/AIDS testing will be compulsory to each and every Mosotho, so that they treat the known HIV/AIDS status of a patient.

He said through this strategy they will know people who are infected with HIV/AIDS and treat them in time, as treating a patient with one illness for a long time results in the loss of lives for many people.

On the other hand, Honorable Kabi explained that they have launched a campaign of building clinics to reach patients in hard-to-reach areas in the highlands of Lesotho, and that up until now the campaign is continuing smoothly.

He also said after building seven clinics they waited for a while, as Harvard University from the United States of America showed interest in joining them in their campaign.

In his statement he explained that in working with them, Harvard University found that they work without proper plans, and they advised them to plan and not to build clinics without knowing where they will get the medicines and nurses and doctors to who will staff those clinics.

Honorable Kabi said Harvard University representatives arrived in Lesotho in the second week of January 2019, and they have returned to Boston in the United States of America this month.
