The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology Honorable Thesele ‘Maseribane says his ministry is preparing to formulate the Cyber Security Bill which if approved by the parliament, will regulate the use of internet and social media in Lesotho.
Honorable ‘Maseribane expressed this in Maseru yesterday, where he further said this new law called Cyber Security is used in many countries which signed the Millennium Challenge Corporation agreement.
In his remarks, he said the new law will protect the users of internet and help Lesotho to be trusted by other countries.
He also explained that if Lesotho does not implement this law, and yet Basotho transfer money through the internet services of financial institutions like banks, there are cyber terrorists who may steal their money through the internet.
Honorable ‘Maseribane further pointed out that, the law will help the courts to make decisions about people who publish false information on social media platforms like Facebook.
