The Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) has expressed its concern about the current conflicts between teachers and the Ministry of Education and the prevailing political instability in Lesotho.

Speaking in Maseru yesterday, a member of the council Bishop Daniel Rantle said as CCL they are worried about the emergency situation facing the education of Basotho, and the opportunity for Basotho to get educated in Lesotho.

He said they are mostly distressed because churches which are the owners of schools have not been informed by the government, about the recurring situation in schools.

Bishop Rantle also indicated that they are worried about the ignorance and the violation of human rights of Basotho children, particularly the right to education which will sacrifice their bright future.

Bishop Rantle also pointed out that they are bothered by the unprofessional politics of people who are aiming at filling their stomachs, which are not sympathetic to the nation, and which in their presence Basotho refuse to sit down for negotiations, but choose to be divided and destabilize the country and the government.

He said Basotho depend on selling wool and mohair and they are concerned about the wool and mohair issues which do not come to the end.
