Development for Peace Education (DPE) will hold dialogue on the education sector, with a focus on the causes and potential solutions of the on-going industrial action by teachers in Maseru today.

In a statement, DPE says the dialogue will give members of the public the opportunity to discuss the causes of teachers’ industrial action and come up with the potential solutions that will end it.

DPE reports that it has invited all different education stakeholders including teachers’ trade unions, the Ministry of Education and Training, the ministerial sub-committee working to resolve the issue, other trade union congresses, parents and students to come and be part of the dialogue.

In its statement, DPE says the description of the industrial action by teacher organizations leading to the struggle shocked Basotho, and the strike which is rolled out for the whole year will see teachers in classes one of the four weeks in each month.

It also explains the situation as a total shut down on education, and a disaster that has befallen Lesotho more so when it targets youth.
