The Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane officially launched the Lesotho Economic Laboratories, which will create more than 22 000 new jobs in Maseru yesterday.

In his remarks Dr Thabane said on the 28th December 2018, a Strategic Direction Setting Workshop facilitated by Dato Idris Jala of Pemandu Associates was held for cabinet in the Parliament of Lesotho.

He said in that workshop, the cabinet was briefed about the good examples of PEMANDU experiences in Malaysia and in other African countries, and about some of the pitfalls they should avoid.

He further said they then agreed to adopt the Big Fast Results Methodology, as they were convinced that it was one of the best mechanisms to accelerate private sector driven economic growth and job creation.

Dr Thabane indicated that to date the technical teams working closely with the Principal Secretaries, and chief executives of relevant parastatals, and through the policy direction of the ministers of Development Planning and Finance, have completed the pre-lab phase which took place for five weeks from the 4th of February 2019.

Ha said they are now at the economic lab stage, where deeper engagement and analysis will be done with selected companies, and that the economic labs which will take place from the 13th March to the 4th April 2019, will be configured around the four National Strategic Development Plan II that he alluded to in his statement.
