The Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) donated schools and sports shoes to six students, under the sponsorship of Maseru Business Machines in Maseru yesterday.

Speaking during the event the acting chairperson of LSRC Mr Lefa Moneri said their agreement with Maseru Business Machines started in 2017, where they pledged that they will sponsor three student girls and three student boys who will win in the Royal Memorial Health Marathon competition.

Moneri said the gifts they donated to students yesterday, are related to the marathon competition they held in Mant’sonyane on the 15th December 2018.

On behalf of Maseru Business Machines Mr Telang Takane said they visited Mant’sonyane in 2017 to watch the Royal Memorial Health Marathon, where they found that the males and females Basotho athletes run their races on bare feet.

Mr Takane indicated that they found that one of the champions in the southern African marathon competition is one of the athletes who ran without shoes, and as the company they decided to buy shoes for those athletes.
