The Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) has notified members of the public about one of its members who was assaulted and killed, in an attack that happened in Masaleng Bobete in Thaba-Tseka district on the 25th June 2019.

In a statement released on Tuesday, LDF said the preliminary reports it received indicate that the deceased was allegedly assaulted to death with sticks and swords, by men who were suspected of stealing his sheep three months ago.

Reports say the deceased knew the men who stole his sheep and he approached them, where they promised to pay back his animals.

According to the statement the deceased received a message on the 24th June this year, notifying him to go meet the suspects and get the payment for his stolen sheep, the following day which was the 25th June 2019.

The statement further says the deceased showed up for the meeting accompanied by one of his relatives on the specified day, where on their arrival the suspects called him to a private place to have a private conversation with him.

Statement also shows that the suspects called the deceased in a private place, where other men were hiding and they assaulted him to death.

Members of LDF who rushed to the place with a helicopter arrested six men in connection with this attack, and three other suspects are still in the run.
