YOUTH ADVICE THE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE EMPLOYMENT IN LESOTHO.
Youth advice the government to create employment in Lesotho.

Young people of Lesotho requested the Government of Lesotho, to clearly explain to the public how they intend to generate long-term jobs, and set a realistic deadline of when this mandate will be achieved.

They said this when handing over their petition letter to the government on Monday this week, in which they expressed their dissatisfaction in issues including high unemployment rate in Lesotho.

When reading the letter, one representative of young people Lineo Tsikoane said according to the Bureau of Statistics, Lesotho’s unemployment rate stands at 32.8%, a figure that continuously rises as the economic state of the country deteriorates.

She said although it is clear that the government promises to create jobs, there is no direction as to how, for whom and in which sectors these jobs will be created.

In a letter young people advised the government to overcome this pandemic, by making available internship programs for graduates in the private sector, financially support small to medium enterprises, and increase the ease of starting businesses in the country.
