Members of the Lesotho Flying Doctors Services (LFDS) staff tabled the challenges they face in executing their duties, to the Ministry of Health in Maseru on Wednesday this week.

Members of the staff stated that they are faced with shortage of staff in other health related fields, which include nutritionists and health environmentalists.

In their statement they indicated that they need offices and their own helicopters, as they rely on the Lesotho Defence Force’s helicopters to do their work.

They also said they need freezer suits, as they fly with helicopters to reach cold and hard-to-reach areas in the highlands of Lesotho.

In response to the challenges, the Deputy Minister of Health Honorable ‘Mathabiseng Phohleli said their main mandate as ministers of health is to agree with members of LFDS staff, on the needs required for them to successfully do their work.

She said they have to support LFDS staff by passing their grievances to their colleagues, who will provide the needed funds.
