Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation is launching the AUSC Region 5 Africa Games in Maseru on Friday 18 October 2019.

Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation Dr Mahali Phamotse, said the launch will be led by the Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane and will be divided into two phases.

She said this morning there will be a fun walk from Setsoto Stadium to Lake Side, and back to Setsoto Stadium through the Lesotho Agricultural College (LCE) road.

Dr Phamotse said the fun walk is targeting mostly young people, as Region 5 Africa Games are for them.

She further explained that there will be a celebration at Setsoto Stadium and it will include music, dance and aerobics.

In her statement, she said Phase II of the launch will be tonight on the same day at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre, where she will introduce the local organizing committee to the Prime Minister and to the public.

Phamotse also said during the occasion, they will introduce to Basotho a logo, the theme and the mascot of the games among others.
