MINISTRY OF HEALTH RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES.
Ministry of Health raises awareness about non-communicable diseases.

Ministry of Health officially launched a non-communicable diseases awareness campaign, at Manonyane bus stop area in Maseru on Wednesday 27 November 2016.

Non-communicable diseases include high blood pressure, cancer and sugar diabetes, and they cannot be directly transmittable from one person to another.

At the event the Minister of Health Honorable Nkaku Kabi, said the campaign will be held in the ten districts of Lesotho.

He encouraged people to listen to the awareness messages about these diseases, and pass them to other people to save their lives.

He said when lives are saved; it means the number of orphans left by parents in families is reduced.

In his remarks he explained that Lesotho is faced with high rate of cancer, and HIV/AIDS which they are close to defeating, though they are challenged by the fact that men refuse to use condoms.

One small entrepreneur Mrs ‘Masebongile Pheko, expressed her gratitude to Ministry of Health for the campaign, which she said came when they were not expecting it.

She said from now on they will start taking their health seriously, especially when health services are free in clinics and hospitals.
