The Bankers Association Lesotho (BAL) made up of four commercial banks of Ned Bank, Standard Lesotho Bank, Lesotho Post Bank and First National Bank (FNB), officially launched the Annual Awareness Fraud Campaign in Maseru yesterday.

Speaking at the event the BAL Chairperson who is also the Lesotho Post Bank Managing Director Mr Molefi Leqhaoe, said during this time of the year they face a challenge of many visitors, coming to their banks to steal from their customers.

He warned their customers that in their industry, they are experienced with a lot of undesirable activities.

He said in most times they have some internal staff who connive with external people to do some fraudulent activities, and so they advice their customers to be vigilant at all times, to safeguard against this fraud.

Mr Leqhaoe highlighted that they also have some international syndicates, who come into the country during this time of the year, as there are many money exchanging hands.

He said it is the time whereby most of the people who are working, are getting bonuses and others share their savings.

He warned customers that it is the time whereby people who are not willing to sweat for the income they get, they now take the opportunity to move around and steal form others.

The theme for this year is; “Be vigilant, Safeguard your bank information.
