Two Basotho women Lineo Lucy Matete and Lydia ‘Mamothobi Shale, who were staying in Naleli were arrested by the police in Ghana, and appeared in the High Court of Ghana for allegedly smuggling drugs.

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, said reports indicate that the suspects were found with drugs in their bags on the 7th November 2019.

He said investigations revealed that the suspects were hired by a Nigerian man living in South Africa, and were each promised M5000 salaries for transporting the drugs.

They appeared in the High Court of Ghana for the first time on the 14th November 2019, together with two other Nigerian citizens.

Mopeli further said the suspects appeared in court again, on the 28th November and also on the 12th December 2019.
