Chinese Embassy to Lesotho confirms no cornavirus cases in Africa.

Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho His Excellency Lei Kezhong assured people, that so far there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Africa.

In his statement in Maseru on Tuesday the 4th February 2020, Kezhong said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the prevention and control of the novel Coronavirus, and has launched all-round, unprecedented response to fight the epidemic.

He said on the 20th January 2020, Chinese President Xi Jinpin instructed government at all levels to pay highest attention to the development of the epidemic.

He indicated that a hospital with 1 000 beds by the name of Huoshenshan was build in Wuhan, and was put into operation on Monday this week.

According to Kezhong, another new hospital with 1500 beds by the name Leishenshan is expected to be ready for use today, and both of them were build within ten days after plans for their construction were made.

He further pointed out that currently China is working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO), and the international community at large to contain the spread of the epidemic.

He said on the 20th and 21st January this year, WHO experts made a field study in Wuhan and discussed cooperation on fighting the virus with Chinese government and experts.

He also stated that from the 26th to the 29th January 2020, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus visited China and met with President Xi Jinpin and other officials to discuss this matter.
