The Lesotho First Lady Dr. ‘Maesaiah Thabane arrived in Lesotho on Tuesday the 4th February 2020, and turned herself in for questioning over the murder of his husband’s former wife Mrs. Lipolelo Thabane.

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Deputy Commissioner Paseka Mokete, confirmed that Dr. ‘Maesaiah Thabane is one of the suspects in the murder and attempted murder cases they are investigating.

He said their investigations revealed that Dr. ‘Maesaiah Thabane together with other suspects whose names are not yet revealed, were involved in the killing of Lipolelo Thabane.

DCP Mokete stated that they had planned for Dr. ‘Maesaiah to appear in court on the same day she showed up to them, but they failed due to logistical restraints.

In his remarks he confirmed that they have strong case and valid evidence against ‘Maesaiah Thabane in the killing of Lipolelo Thabane.

He added that other suspects whose names are not yet announced will be called in for questioning. 

‘Maesaiah spent last night in police custody, and DCP Mokete explained that they have legal powers to keep her in police custody, not later than two days.

He said after two days they will have to release her, or request further permission to keep her in police custody from the magistrate court, for the reasons they will state.
