The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in South Africa called for the immediate resignation of the incompetent and criminal Prime Minister of Lesotho, Dr. Motsoahae Thomas Thabane.

In a statement released on Monday 20th April 2020, the EFF condemned in the strongest terms the unconstitutional deployment of the army and roll out of a lockdown by Dr. Thabane, as a narrow and self-seeking attempt to avoid accountability.

The statement further reiterates that Thabane has without consulting opposition parties, and even members of his own party and caucus, unilaterally suspended parliament for a period of three months.

According to the EFF the suspension was not only done without consultation, but it is one that is not in line with the suspension of all activities in other sectors, which amount to 21-days in Lesotho.

The EFF further stated that Thabane has done this under the guise of combating COVID-19, including the deployment of the army in the streets of Lesotho.

In a statement the EFF indicates that Dr. Thabane fails to appreciate that parliamentarians play a critical role in the fight against Coronavirus, namely oversight, providing aid and ensuring that all aid is provided equally to citizens.

EFF calls for Thabane not to be allowed to use COVID-19 Pandemic to avoid his criminal charges and mounting calls for him to step down.
