Tertiary institutions will open in line with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ministry of Health during the coronavirus pandemic in Lesotho.

The Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Motsoahae Thomas Thabane announced this, in his statement of relaxing nationwide lockdown on Tuesday this week.

Dr.Thabane said primary schools, secondary and high schools will be open for Grade 7, Grade 10 and Grade 12 students.

He said students in other classes will remain at home until further notice.

Furthermore Dr.Thabane announced that church services will also be allowed, and each service will be limited to not more than fifty congregants.

He indicated that so far Lesotho has not reported any case of coronavirus, even though the risk is still very high, due to the increasing cases in the neighboring South Africa, and also the increasing number of Basotho who cross into Lesotho from South Africa through illegal border posts.

He encouraged people to avoid being infected by the virus, and further announced that the Government of Lesotho has decided to instruct everyone to cover their mouths and noses with masks, when they leave their houses and when they are in crowed places.
