Minister of Health Honorable Nkaku Kabi recounted the number of Basotho students, who arrived in Lesotho from Saudi Arabia from thirty to five in Maseru last Friday.

He said in his previous statement, he had mentioned a total number of students who travelled from Saudi Arabia to South Africa, avoiding stipulating the specific number of Basotho students among them.

The five students include the one who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, and was recorded as the first case of the virus in Lesotho.

The Epidemiologist from Ministry of Health Dr. T’sepang Lekhele clarified that on the 8th May 2020, they had five people coming from Saudi Arabia who explained that they left Saudi Arabia on the 7th May, and took a flight to South Africa which landed at OR Tambo International Airport.

She said from there they were transferred to the government quarantine facility to be tested, and one of them tested positive for COVID-19.

The Director General of Health Services Lesotho Dr. ‘Nyane Letsie explained that COVID-19 is a disease like any other disease, and they know the appropriate information they have to release to the public concerning it.

She appealed to the public to report visitors in their villages, and take them to the nearby hospitals and clinics to be tested.
