The Ministry of Health commemorated World Blood Donor’s day, observed annually on the 14th June.

This year’s theme was “Safe Blood Saves Live; Give Blood and Make the World a Healthier place.”

Minister of health Honorable Motlatsi Maqelepo said with this, all nations in the world are called to be fully committed in securing safe blood.

He said in this task, governments all around the world have major responsibility of ensuring availability of resources and service delivery, which are the two points the Government of Lesotho has considered.

He also indicated that frequent blood donation helps in securing enough blood, to respond to the needs of blood by those who lost it.

In his remarks, he pointed out that it is now becoming a norm for Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services to be in shortage of blood and that has to stop.
