Maluti Adventist Hostanpital in Mapoteng in the Leribe district received Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipment from Standard Lesotho Bank on Tuesday the 23rd June 2020.

The equipment worth M1.2 million aims to complement all efforts geared towards saving lives, especially at this trying time when the world is faced with coronavirus pandemic.

When handing over the equipment Standard Lesotho Bank Marketing Manager Mr. Manyathela Kheleli, said COVID-19 has no mercy and does not discriminate between reach and poor.

He said as the bank they considered it necessary to buy Maluti Adventist Hospital the equipment, and further noted that Standard Lesotho Bank adheres to the World Health Organization’s declaration of COVID-19 as global pandemic.

Mr. Kheleli said they decided to participate in the fight against COVID-19, and they approached Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) for guidance.

The Deputy Minister of Health Honourable Nto Moakhoi accepted the equipment on behalf of the Maluti Adventist Hospital, considered to be the second largest hospital in Lesotho, after the ultra-modern Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital based in Maseru.

Honourable Moakhoi expressed gratitude for the ICU ward, and further called for preparedness amongst health professionals, as COVID-19 cases in Lesotho seem surging.
