The Association of Chinese Enterprise Lesotho donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Government of Lesotho in Maseru on Wednesday the 15th July 2020.

The equipment includes 1100 pairs of hand gloves, 50 pieces of eye protectors, 8000 pieces of surgical masks and 60 bottles of 70% alcohol hand sanitizer.

At the ceremony the Deputy Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health Advocate Lesimole Moletsane, said the equipment is the first donation from the Chinese Enterprise to the Government of Lesotho.

She said the equipment came at a crucial time, when they are in the middle of fighting COVID-19 pandemic.

She said the donation will be distributed immediately to more than 270 health facilities in the country which are in need of them.

The enterprise’s Economic and Commercial Counselor Mr. Ma Guoling said the equipment is a friendly gesture by the Chinese Enterprise in Lesotho, to the Government of Lesotho and to the Basotho people.

He said the donation is also a good example of Chinese Enterprises that actively fulfill their social responsibility, among many efforts to assist Lesotho to fight against COVID-19.

He highlighted that since the start of the pandemic, the Chinese side has offered four batches of medical supplies to the Government of Lesotho, and that the seventh batch from the Chinese Government is still under discussion with the Government of Lesotho, and will be shipped to Lesotho soon.

The Deputy Minister of Health Honorable Nto Makhoi expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Enterprise for the equipment, and indicated that it came at the right time when the country is fighting the spread of COVID-19.

In his remarks he assured the Chinese Enterprise that now that they have equipped them with the donation, they will work hard to fight and arrest this pandemic.
