Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) has called on members of the public to donate blood for  Easter holidays. The call was made by LBTS Principal Laboratory Technologist, Mr. Khotso Kalake who indicated that available blood will only last for two days and there is a possibility that the blood bank would run dry.

“There is a possibility that people will not get blood this coming week because we have insufficient blood, ” he said, adding that blood is needed in all groups. He stated that blood demand might rise during Easter holidays and it should be available when needed in order to save lives, emphasising that it is not right to wait for emergencies because people end up losing their lives.

He also reminded members of the public that they could donate blood a month after receiving COVID-19 booster vaccine, saying they are aware that most people have received this vaccine. He therefore called on members of the public to donate blood at donation centres based in Maseru, Mohale’s Hoek and Mafeteng in order to save lives.
