The government of Lesotho through the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (ICSTI) Ms. Nthati Moorosi and Minister of Public Service, Labour and Employment Mr. Richard Ramoeletsi on Monday went to Tsenolo FM and St. Michaels to pass condolences following the fatal killing of presenter Ralikonelo Leqhashasha
Joki on Sunday night.

The Ministers conveyed their condolences via air at Tsenolo FM to the audience and public at large before proceeding to the deceaseds home in St. Michaels Roma. Upon arrival at St. Michaels, family and members of the community as well as some of the local Radio presenters were seen at the deceaseds home. In his remarks, Minister Ramoeletsi said he is saddened as he was in a programme with Leqhashasha on Sunday prior to the shooting. He said that journalists are in danger irrespective of working for private or state media. He said as government they condemn this saying this should not
be happening in a democratic country.

Hon. Ramoeletsi futher indicated that Joki was one of his kind, he feared nothing saying if he wanted to do a programme on certain issue, he would investigate such. He stated that government is going to work together with the family until the deceased is buried and was quick to point out that this is not only because it is Leqhashasha but indicated that they will assist where possible with every journalist who dies in the line of duty. Sharing same sentiments, Ms. Moorosi said threatening journalists is not good therefore she strongly condems it. she stated that this is a loss not only to the family but to the country as a whole.
