A telecommunication giant, Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has handed over a fully- furnished two-room to the Moorosi family in Ha Hlapalimane on Friday. At the event the Minister of gender, youth, sports, arts, culture and social development, Mr. Pitso Lesaoana said what Econet did symbolized care for Basotho.He said the government will succeed if entrepreneurs or businesses can give back to the community,he said.


The Econet Marketing and Customer Experience General Manager Mrs.Mapusetso Ntsekhe said through Higher life foundation, the social arm of ETL, they sponsor a lot of children to attend schools both local and international and one of the three children in the family is among their sponsorship beneficiaries.”We saw it fit to build this house because she was vulnerable as she stayed alone in unsafe house while her mother worked in South-Africa. We had to ensure her safety from home to school” she said.


The Beneficiary,Mamookho Moorosi says her two roomed house was not in a good condition for people to stay as walls had cracked. Therefore,having this house is a great honor. Mrs.Matsoanelo Motlomelo, Ha Hlapalimane Councillor said the family has been struggling to make ends meet for decades and whenever there were any donations, they were given the first priority as beneficiaries. The Qacha’s Nek District Administrator (DA) Mr. Mantsi Tseane expressed happiness that ETL is not only focusing in generating money but BY also giving back to the community.
