CRIME PREVENTION COMMITTEES RECEIVE TWO - WAY RADIOS

Crime Prevention Committees from different villages in Khubelu area, Mokhotlong were presented with walkie talkies, two way radios, to enhance communication for crime prevention. The two way radios, three in number, were donated by a Member of Parliament for Malingoaneng Constituency, Mr. Monethi Ramakalima at a public gathering held at Khubelu at the weekend.


Addressing the crime prevention committees and other members of the public present at the gathering, Mr. Ramakalima said the walkie talkies are intended to enable them to spread information when suspicious movements that are crime related happen so as to curb them from further taking place as well as to report crime to the police on time. He commended them for their hard work and commitment to prevent crime.

Speaking at the same public gathering was the Member of Parliament for Senqu Constituency Mr. Bolala Khesa who also expressed commitment that as Members of Parliament, they will support the crime prevention committees in every way possible to fight against crime in Khubelu. Furthermore the Chairperson of the District Crime Prevention Committees Mr. Ts'eliso Mokati said they recorded achievements in the fight against crime in recent years but currently crime especially stock theft is taking place again hence the need to strengthen their collaboration with the police.


Also speaking was the Officer Commanding the Mokhotlong Police Superintendent Bothata 'Nei who said crime prevention committees should continue to do their role as trained to prevent crime. He promised the committees that they will be visited by the police to revive them on issues related to community policing. He said the first training in a series of many will be at Moremoholo in the district in June this year.
