The 28-year-old woman reported having hit her husband with a spear, putting out his eye while injuring another one is reported to have been punished by the villagers and allegedly miscarried. This was stated by Mr. Tséliso Mabote who spoke on behalf of the Methalaneng chief on Monday.According to Mr. Mabote, reports indicate that it was around 1 am on Monday when Mrs.Matankiso Mokhele went knocking at the neighbour’s house informing them that her husband had been injured. He said he was told that neighbours went to see what happened and found the old man aged over 70 injured and helpless as his hands were also wounded.Mr. Mabote said the wife had reported that they fought mover blankets with his husband as the husband wanted to tug in alone and had left her with nothing and when the fight intensified the woman ran out and the old man locked her outside.

He said the wife then reported that she took the spear and inserted it inside the hole at the door and then it hit the man in the eye, but the man did not open and then she inserted it once again and it hit the other eye. Mr. Mabote then said the man got weak from the wounds, on the face and hands and let go of the door and the wife entered, thereafter, went to alert the neighbours. He said it is reported that in the morning the man was taken to St. James hospital while the women in that village took the lady somewhere for punishment without notifying the chief
