FARMERS CONCERNED ABOUT HIGH RATE OF STOCK THEFT
Farmers concerned about high rate of stock theft
13 July 2023 | 10:49

With the purpose of overcoming and curbing stock theft, Lesotho Mounted Police Service will on August the second this year hold a one day meeting with farmers, Community Policing Committees and chiefs from the district of Berea, Leribe, Butha-Bothe and Mokhotlong.

This comes after the unsuccessful meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday this week due to failure of attendance by farmers and chiefs.

Addressing the issue, Senior Inspector Matlotlo Mphohla reminded that the meeting is the result of the petition that was made by farmers to the commissioner of police, and  that petition stated that the farmers complained of unsatisfactory service in regard to stock theft.

He explained that the reason for rescheduling is for them to come in large numbers as it will help in giving each other positive guides in overcoming this issue in a broad context.

Chief MakhobaloTeketsi of Kuenaneng said it is best that the meeting has been rescheduled because chiefs also want to lay down their complaints in the presence of farmers.
